Can body shape really define you?

You grow thin and get blown by words unheard, or grow fat and get drowned from eyes unseen.

We have seen people with a particular mindset of the 70s, where obesity was treated as a societal affair or seen as some act working against moral ethics.

We all have noticed these weight watchers in our schools, colleges, workplace, culture, and even our holy temples. I like to call this mindset unlawful, but which mindset am I conveying here?

Can I showcase the facts to prove that obesity or skinniness is as natural as a normal-weight being? Should I blame society for naming these useless domains?

Some activists may align with my forward paths. But, is there a roadmap to convey the validity of my crunched points, and to mandate a change in society’s opinionated response?

Let’s not jump to the conclusion before uncovering the dark entomb of our own social infection, as it may be harmful to consume the article.

What is the issue I am trying to address here?

It’s the judgemental thinking of our neighbours, our dear friends and our colleagues.

They have started to bury a philosophy in their layered mind, that fat people tend to turn unhealthy.

They also strain on the belief that one should be fit. Their fitness scale prompts one to be neither over the decided maxima nor below the limits of weight, they have settled on.

Their beliefs march in the dark roads, making them admire the fact that losing weight is the only route to achieve spiritual health.

But, I would unveil the reality.

Here are some pieces I found, that is viewed from the wrong lens. We can help clear that vision, to enhance the eyesight, this blind society might have.

Obesity — Is It A Humour or A Rumour Seed Sowed in our Childhood Cocoons?

Let’s flashback to one of my school days. I had a school friend. Her name was Manisha, as was inscribed on those rough old attendance sheets. All well-wishers used to call her by the tag name Manu.

She was so open-minded to pursue her dreams of becoming an army officer, that she overlooked every mockery of her classmates.

This wasn’t new, and we cannot blame ourselves for the seeds we are born with. What we can do is pluck away this thorny plants, that speak the words of disrespect for others’ outlooks.

Manisha was my best friend, she used to give insights to me about her feelings in one session or the other.

Her so-called colleagues used to take over her self-pride, invoking her insides by Motisha. This was rude, but her stubborn heights to dream big in her path refrained any such negative emotions. I felt especially proud of my soul mate.

She allowed all those blind thoughts, who were in an un-destined train to mock her outer world without visualizing the light within.

It was when my conscience diverted that made me spit the letters, “Motisha” out of my hellish mouth.

The moment was drastic for her. She could not realize what just happened in front of her.

This disaster helped her draining mouth, swallow all the hurt within. It made way for the salty yet guilty tears to stream down through the lakes of her cheeks.

My mock fell apart her soul. She used to take pills for the fact that I was her best friend, to whom she can share different phases of her sadness.

It was as if the world has come to deadly nonsense for her when my voice shattered her inner self. Her weeping sounds made me feel sinful about the mistake I committed.

I awaited her last reply which could not show up. It made me feel drowned in my committed crime.

She left her school, went to a new city, started everything from the ground up as if she was a newly born infant.

It was a godly day when I heard from her in my corporate days.

I was at the bus stop waiting for my desired vehicle to show up when suddenly my eyes scrolled to see her. Those eyes were shy enough to recognise her.

She approached my circle of conscience, invoked my identity with honour, flowering every vessel of humbleness with my name.

At that moment, she looked potentially dramatic like some pleasing actress from the Bollywood cinemas.

I shyly rectified my committed offence. It was then, she went on to say that I opened up her perspective.

In these unseen years, she would do exercises, spending most of the time, making sure she was tagged thin for the world. It made her lose weight but ruined her esteemed time.

But now, she has transformed her life’s perspective to become a health expert. Her coordinated work helps the needy, supports people tagged as obese, and kills all the genres made for Fat and Thin.

It’s not difficult to swallow the last bit of confidence and the gospel truth in yourself, that every portion of your bodily structure is just materialistic.

Your structures cannot enforce to be your single most universe. They just indicate graphics of your outer walls, or what many philosophers have inscribed in their scriptures to be substantial.

It’s when you realise the essence it feels when you truly admire your embodiment. It’s when your focus shifts on what your well-wishers are about to say.

Want a thin belly? Ohh! These Adverts Suck a Lot.

You are too chubby! Wear our latest technology-inspired appetite burner to reframe your body!!

Wherever I go, be it the malls, trains, metro stations, or even on the roads, I get to view these giant billboards trying to distress my mind.

They shout with their souring mouths, “Tired of being fat and ugly, just remove your lazy belly at Rs. 999 only!”

We also notice these adverts on our television networks, even becoming our shadows on social media. Their products are not at fault, but what is guilty of these commercials are anti-logical ideologies.

From our childhood, we have been taught, “Be young on the weighing machine, Be fit”.

Most of the skinny persons also suffer from lethargic attitudes in our ill-plastered society.

Even my boney structure made everyone halt by my sides, to disrespect my outsides, and say, “Gourav, you are growing thin day by day”. They continue their argument with a suggestion, “You should visit the specialist for this anomaly”.

Commercials have diverted one’s logic to a new arena, for them to sell what feels logical to them. These products have a mental impact on forcing the citizens to think, that one has to lose his/her bodily mass.

‘Obese’ May Not Always Equal Unhealthy. The study found that:

Among obese adults, 29 percent were deemed healthy — as were 16 percent of those who were severely obese based on body mass index (BMI, a ratio of weight to height).

The remaining 71 per cent were unhealthy not mainly because of the weight, but because they were demotivated by the burdens of society.

On the other hand, more than 30 percent of normal-weight Americans were metabolically unhealthy.

The researchers estimate that nearly 75 million Americans would be “misclassified” as heart-healthy if BMI is the only yardstick.

By the same token, studies have shown, being thin is no guarantee of good health.

If one would lock horns that junk food makes one’s health disturbed, and following a balanced diet is the only saviour, then let’s push into their tiny ears, what Warren sir has to offer.

In one of Warren Buffett’s public sayings, he quoted, “I eat McDonald’s 3 Times a Week and Pounds Cokes.” His words continued shattering silence in the room when he said, “I’m not bothered by the thought of my death.

Bill Gates also admires his eating habits, quoting,

“Warren Buffett has the sharpness of a 30-year old man, a naughty smile of a 10-year child, and the mischievous eating habits of a 6-year old kid.”

Conclusion

Weight is a deceiving feature, mankind has ever identified.

I would agree that the core of the earth is heating up with stress, and junk foods can flame the blowing fire, but if one is joyous from his hearty attitude, it does not matter what eating habits he adores, or the weight he wears on.

I also agree why following a scheduled diet can honour your calories intake. But, this way you have to track every bite you gulp down your saliva, and you will be unable to find the slice of joy in the cake of your life.

Diet consciousness will help you shrink younger on that man-made machinery horizon but will keep your personality and delight at stake.

So, ask the real question.

Does your weight matter, for turning your body into a healthy and happy human being? No, not really!

Let me know what’s more important for your health.

Is it the inner measurement of satisfaction, and trust that you are young at heart, and healthy inside? Or, is it the satisfaction of those billboards trying to admire you from outside, whilst cheating your brain from the cores?
